For what was viewed initially as a non-threatening storm, Isaac turned out to be quite the opposite. We hope that you and your family fared well and did not suffer significant damage, if any.
Please see the below alert regarding tax relief for individuals and businesses affected by Isaac. Should you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Andrew Sullivan at (504) 569-2900.
The IRS announced today that certain individuals and business affected by Hurricane Isaac are eligible for certain extended tax filing and payment obligations. The IRS extended the tax filing and payment deadlines occurring on or after August 26, 2012 and on or before January 11, 2013 to January 11, 2013. The IRS also agreed to waive failure-to-deposit penalties for federal employment and excise tax deposits normally due on or after August 26, 2012 and before September 10, 2012 if the deposits are made by September 10, 2012.
The extension for filing and payment deadlines applies to the following areas:
Louisiana: Parishes of Ascension, Jefferson, Lafourche, Livingston, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. John the Baptist and St. Tammany.
