Baldwin Haspel Burke & Mayer has proudly signed on as a Silver Sponsor of the American Cancer Society’s 2014 Belles & Beaus Ball. In doing so, the firm is supporting one of its own, marketing director Katie Kelly, who was diagnosed with cancer in May 2014, and is one of the Belles being honored at the event on September 26, 2014 at Mardi Gras World.
This year the event proceeds will benefit the Patrick F. Taylor Hope Lodge, which is a local residential facility operated by the ACS for the benefit of cancer patients who are undergoing treatment in the New Orleans area. At Hope Lodge, free lodging is provided to the patient and their caregiver, as well as rides to and from doctor’s appointments. Since 2006, Hope Lodge has served 5,468 cancer patients and caregivers, providing 115,624 nights in lodging alone, saving patients $16.1 million dollars (based on average New Orleans hotel rate of $140/night).
