Stephen (Steve) Schott is a native New Orleanian who received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, magna cum laude, from Southeastern Louisiana University, a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University School of Law and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Energy and Environment, with distinction, from Tulane University School of Law.

Steve joined Baldwin Haspel Burke & Mayer as a partner in 2010 after working with another law firm for nearly 25 years. His practice is concentrated in the areas of commercial real estate transactions and litigation, business transactions and litigation, and environmental law.

Steve has been named a Super Lawyer and a New Orleans Magazine “Top Lawyer of New Orleans” for many years for his work in real estate law and environmental law. He is the author of an environmental law handbook entitled “Louisiana Environmental Law,” as well as an article published in the U.C.L.A. Journal of Environmental Law and Policy. He is a certified mediator by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) and has served as an advisor on the Tulane Environmental Law Journal Advisory Board for many years.

Steve is an avid runner who runs 50 to 60 miles per week. He competes regularly in races of various distances, including marathons, half marathons, and the Marine Corps Ultra Marathon. In addition to running, he enjoys traveling and spending time with his family. Steve is also active in his neighborhood and has been a longtime member of the Board of Directors, as well as the Treasurer, of the Cottam Park Civic Association in Old Metairie.
