Dave Carrigee is a New Orleans native. He attended the University of New Orleans where he received a bachelor’s degree in business and marketing in 1970. He then attended Loyola University College of Law where he received a Juris Doctor in 1976.
Dave is a partner in the firm practicing in the areas of maritime, insurance defense, offshore litigation and toxic torts. His maritime practice includes the representation of oil and gas producers and their contractors, as well as the owners and operators of offshore supply vessels, tugs and tows. He also represents the downstream side of oil companies, defending their refinery interests against personal injury, property damage and toxic exposure litigation, including class actions; along with various insurance companies on coverage issues involving property, business interruption, liability and marine policies.
New Orleans City Business selected Dave for their Leadership in Law class of 2010, which “identifies and honors 50 outstanding legal professionals whose successes in law and contributions to the community have set the pace for the legal community.” He is also recognized by Super Lawyers (Transportation/Maritime), Best Lawyers in America (Admiralty & Maritime Law, Commercial Litigation) and New Orleans Magazine’s “Top Lawyers of New Orleans” (Admiralty & Maritime Law, Insurance Law). Dave volunteers his free time to the Homeless Experience Legal Protection Program (HELP), which provides free legal counseling to homeless shelter residents. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter and two grandchildren.
