Karl J. Zimmermann

Biography

Karl Zimmermann is a lifelong Lakeview resident and Jesuit High School graduate who received a BBA in Accounting from Loyola University and a law degree from Tulane University in 1984. In 1985, he received a Masters (LL.M.) from the highly accredited New York University. Karl is also a CPA and a Louisiana Board Certified tax attorney, as certified by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization.

Karl practiced in the New York firm of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett for five years working on mergers, acquisitions and tax matters. In 1994, he returned to New Orleans and joined the firm where he represents closely held businesses and their owners providing tax, business and strategic planning. He has been involved in numerous public and private business acquisitions and dispositions, many involving United States clients doing business internationally, and international businesses looking to enter the United States. He is recognized in Louisiana Super Lawyers (Tax, Business/Corporate and Mergers & Acquisitions), Best Lawyers in America (Tax, Mergers & Acquisitions) and Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business (Mergers and Acquisitions).

Karl enjoys spending time with his wife, three kids, and two grandchildren. He also enjoys live music, traveling, and watching the New Orleans Hornets.
