This is a special alert to notify you of the upcoming Louisiana Sales Tax Holiday this weekend. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Drew Sullivan at email@example.com or (504) 569-2900.
The annual Louisiana Sales Tax Holiday (the “Holiday”) begins this Friday, August 7th through Saturday, August 8th. The Holiday provides an exemption from state sales tax on the first $2,500 of the purchase price of most items of tangible personal property. This exemption does not apply to purchases of certain items, such as vehicles, taxable services and meals. State sales tax is, however, payable on any portion of the purchase price of a particular item that exceeds $2,500. The exemption applies only to the state’s sales tax portion (i.e., 4.0%) and does not apply to local sales taxes.
