Steve Schott Attorney


Stephen (Steve) Schott is a native New Orleanian who received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, magna cum laude, from Southeastern Louisiana University. Steve then attended Loyola University School of Law where he received his Juris Doctor degree in 1983. Later, Steve also received a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Energy and Environment, with distinction, from Tulane University School of Law. He has served as an advisor on the Tulane Environmental Law Journal Advisory Board for many years.

Steve joined Baldwin Haspel Burke & Mayer as a partner in 2010 after working with another local firm for more than 20 years. His practice areas include business transactions and litigation, real estate transactions and litigation, environmental law, and appeals. Steve is a certified mediator by the American Arbitration Association (AAA). He is the author of an environmental law handbook entitled “Louisiana Environmental Law” and has also written an article published in the U.C.L.A. Journal of Environmental Law and Policy. Steve has been named a Super Lawyer and a New Orleans Magazine “Top Lawyer of New Orleans” for his work in real estate law.

Steve is an avid runner who runs over five miles a day and competes in races regularly, including half-marathons. He enjoys traveling and spending time with his family. Steve is also very active in his neighborhood and is currently serving as the Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors of the Cottam Park Civic Association in Old Metairie.
